A Little Piece of Zion

I had a really good, testimony building experience recently so I thought I'd share. A while back John and I agreed to let the priests use our van for their high adventure camp last week. It mostly worked out because the kids were staying at my parents house while things got finished on the house. Our only problem was how to get to church on Sunday.

I decided to ask my friend Amber if we could borrow her van because I knew she didn't really use it on Sunday (She's very organized and makes her family walk to church). She's also a very helpful person and always there when you need her. She agreed and so I went and picked up the van Sunday morning and got the kids and brought them back to the house. My mom had already gotten them ready for church so we had a little time to kill and were able to walk to church as well.

On our way home from church we were walking with the Egberts and the Weinheimers, also friends of ours in our ward. Ben came up and asked if we wanted to borrow their minivan for the week, since the scouts had our van. I was a little flabbergasted. They said they didn't really drive it during the week and would be happy to lend it to us. Emily agreed and said she had been looking for a way to get Ben to walk to work anyway. I accepted and it was literally a godsend. I was able to take some of the kids with me every day when I went to pick up Emma at her Chinese camp and give my dad a little break from them, and the kids a little break from the house. I was so grateful for their generosity and it really struck me that that is how Zion is supposed to work. When everyone shares what they have, and jumps in to fill needs that they see, everyone is happy and the Lord is able to bless everyone. It made me want to be more generous and giving in my life and I was and am grateful for the experience.

And then when the Young Men got back, they came over to paint. They saved me somewhere between 8 and 10 hours of painting.
